Andrew Osenga | Caedmon's Call | Derek Webb | Folk | News StoryYesterday, Caedmon's Call divulged months and months of secret information to the fans and the Christian music world alike. It has been little known for a year or so that Caedmon's Call's last album, In The Company of Angels II: The World Will Sing was their final album under their contract with Essential Records/Provident Music Group. It was rumored that Caedmon's would stay independent, but yesterday's announcement told of signing with INO Records, one of the few labels in the industry that has a more independently-minded model.
The band's fifteenth record will be titled Overdressed and will release August 28th. There will be 12 tracks on the CD, although a limited-edition 14-track version will be available during a pre-order period only. Writing duties for the songs have been split between four rather new members of the band, including Andrew Osenga, Randall Goodgame, Derek Webb, and Sandra McCracken.
Derek Webb was a longtime member of the band but left Caedmon's Call for a solo career. His latest album, The Ringing Bell, was recently released to much critical acclaim. Derek Webb will return to touring with the band. Sandra McCracken, Derek Webb's wife, is an independent artist who has also released numerous albums over the last five years or so. Sandra and Randall Goodgame are not touring members of the band but wrote songs for Overdressed.
Fans of Caedmon's Call as they existed in the 90s will enjoy that the band seems to be returning to their folk-pop roots. More information can be found at CaedmonsCall.com, their official site, and the CaedmonsCall.net fansite.
