Pillar's first Grammy nomination (Best Rock or Pop Gospel Album for The Reckoning) led them to attend the 50th Annual awards ceremony in Los Angeles on February 10th. They did not walk away with an award, but upon arrival to the GRAMMY red carpet, Pillar interviewed with numerous media outlets, including: Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, XM Satellite Radio, Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition, among others. Later, the band hung out at the SONY BMG Music Entertainment After-Grammy party. Pictured here is Pillar's lead singer, Rob Beckley, hanging out with Chris Daughtry.
On February 22, 2008, Pillar is set to embark on a three-month, "For the Love of the Game" Tour, sponsored by World Vision, TVU and RadioU. Named for Pillar's upcoming album, which will hit stores February 26, 2008, the full tour line-up is: Pillar, Building 429, Wavorly and introducing Brooke Barrettsmith.
Based on our first listen here at inReview, the upcoming release, produced by Travis Wyrick (Disciple, Spoken, P.O.D.), is decidedly Pillar turned up a notch or two. The music captures some of the energy shared at live shows. We agree with the press materials that read, "Consider yourself warned: This is Pillar reloaded."
Beckley recounts, "In preparation for writing and recording For the Love of th
e Game, I listened to a whole lot of Christian music. Prior to Pillar, I didn't know the Christian music world existed. Over the last year, I've fully come to understand just how well the Christian music world is established. In today's music market, Christian bands are starting to set musical standards. Bands like Underoath, for example, are really making a huge impact on the music scene, and that is really cool to me."
With a Grammy nomination and another headlining tour on the eve of their fifth studio album, Pillar is apparently hoping to become a bigger force on the music scene.
