Coming back to the Forefront?
Forefront Records finally has a new rock and roll band to add to their roster that once included the legends of Christian rock--Audio Adrenaline, dc Talk, Geoff Moore and the Distance, Bleach--and has of late been a quiet label with only tobyMac, Audio A, and Rebecca St. James making new albums.
Ohio-based rock band This Beautiful Republic looks to change all of that. Lead singer Ben Olin, of the five piece rock outfit from Toledo said, "[Forefront] has a rich legacy of artists, and we can't wait to see what our future holds."

In addition to the signing of a new band, Forefront Records recently underwent some much needed change on their web site, announced the Audio Adrenaline finale (April 28, 2007 in Hawaii) and will release, after much fanfare and anticipation (not to mention about a year late), dc Talk's 10th Anniversary celebration of Jesus Freak, a 2-disc set to include the original version of all the Jesus Freak songs from the 1995 smash hit record as well as remixed versions of most of the originals.
More information can be found on Forefront's web site regarding Audio Adrenaline and dc Talk.
It seems as though Forefront Records is trying to return to, well, the forefront of the Christian music market.

I could be wrong, but
I remember a couple years ago hearing that the ForeFront staff was absorbed into Sparrow Records. So that's definitely why we haven't seen much from them over the past years. But, it is interesting to see a new band on the label. It will also be interesting to see what new direction the imprint will take now that they have an official new artist for the first time in five years. Very interesting, indeed.
Also, after looking at the track list for the second disc of <em>Jesus Freak</em>'s re-release, it looks like there's not too much to look forward to. Half of those remixes are on other singles and EPs that die-hard fans will most likely already have. I myself will probably buy a copy because I don't have it on CD right now (my original copy was on cassette).
