Listener wants to perform at your house
In 2005, Deepspace 5's The Listener embarked on a unique tour that found him in very odd - and relatively small - places. Dubbed "Listener's Tour of Homes," the venture consisted of a number of small concerts in attics, living rooms, front yards, and back yards - as well as larger spots like skate parks, art galleries and amphitheatres.
"We had such an amazing time," says an unnamed 2005 Tour of Homes attendee in a recent edition of Listener's e-mail newsletter. "It's the kind of DIY touring and music making we love to do, and you guys [the fans] have done a fantastic job of making us household names in a ton of households."
In early 2008 Listener will do it again, in support of his new record Return to Struggleville, which is finished but not yet widely available. "We've currently been playing a mix of random venues, but there's a magic to house shows you just can't duplicate," states the newsletter.
The tour will begin in late January or early February, and "will go until we've reached everyone we can possibly can starting in the Western half of the U.S. first."
E-mails and MySpace messages have been pouring in from those who want to host a show, but requests are still being accepted. States the newsletter, "If you think you have a house (or comparable DIY venue) that we can use for the tour, can get 30-40+ people together to come to a potluck dinner/house show, can organize a couple local bands/groups ... then you're on the right track."

In the meantime, you can catch Listener on his current tour, and likely cop the album while you're at the show. Dates can be viewed here.
